The Mid-Atlantic Public Health Training Center (MAPHTC), which was established in 2001 and is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), is a collaborative project of the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The mission of MAPHTC is to develop the existing public health workforce as a foundation for improving the infrastructure of the public health system and to help achieve the objectives of Healthy People 2020 in Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C.
One of the MAPHTC's primary goals is to strengthen ties between the academic and practice public health communities. Although our primary target audience is the current public health workforce, we feel strongly that the Center should seek ways to benefit both the practice and academic communities.
George Washington University organizes monthly training events on a variety of topics intended to benefit the entire spectrum of public health professionals. We also welcome community members and students who are interested in public health topics. For most events social work and public health (CHES) CEUs are available. Please refer to the event flier to confirm CEU availability. Receive email updates on GW’s MAPHTC events please click here.
