Undergraduate Programs in Public Health

This cutting-edge program combines analysis of current health issues with a liberal arts base. Our undergraduate programs in Public Health teach students about improving the health of communities at home and abroad through health education, promotion and communication, the use of scientific and epidemiologic methods, policy analysis, environmental tools, and management skills.

Why Study Public Health at GW?

The SPHHS community is a close group of students and faculty with a shared goal: to make a difference in our community and the world. Our program is small enough that we'll know your name and large enough to attract public health leaders to teach and inspire.

GW is one of only a handful of schools that offers the full array of public health opportunities; you can major or minor in Public Health or Exercise Science, or take advantage of our five-year BS/MPH dual-degree program. While all GW students may take Public Health classes, students must apply to our programs.

Our students leave prepared for advanced study in public health, medicine, law and business, as well as for careers in government and the private and nonprofit sectors.
